My hornworms are huge and I hope they pupate soon. I’ve never seen that happen.Sherbert LOVES hornworms, I don't love the mess. lol
You’ll need to provide them with some loose soil to bury themselves in. I use coco coir. Just make sure it has a lid or you might find a fat confused hornworm wandering around your home.My hornworms are huge and I hope they pupate soon. I’ve never seen that happen.
Interesting…. Mine won’t eat dubias.Archi is also completely on hoppers, the rest (Xanth, Boehmei, Parson) aren’t really interested, they’re more hooked on dubia’s.

Is that what's going on here?? Do I need to move them into something? I was going to give them to a friend with a bearded dragon since they were too big, but they started to do this. You’ll need to provide them with some loose soil to bury themselves in. Nope. Looks like they made their chrysalises’ just fine without soil. It might take a few weeks or even a month or so before they hatch. Make sure to keep some humidity for them to be able to emerge properly and some sticks or something to climb. As soon as they emerge, they need to be able to climb so they can unfurl and dry their wings properly. Btw, they are nocturnal. Is that what's going on here?? Do I need to move them into something? Make sure you have a friend or a few to share the bounty with. I’ve had a lot of fun learning how to breed my own feeders, but even with all of my insect eaters, I’ve been over-run with certain ones. Superworms are very prolific and besides giving them away at every chance, making my beardie’s very happy and even tossing lots outside for the birds, I’ve still had hundreds of them. Thankfully they are slow growers and last a long time. Still, they eat a lot of bran.Thank you so much!! this was very helpful, I might try to breed after they hatch, (If I make it that far hopefully) But I would be asking for a LOT of advice lol. I thought about breeding other feeders, but seeing how fast hornworms have grown, they seem to be the easiest to start out with.
Hmmm……that’s basically his primary food. I’m always happy when he takes a hopper, cricket, silky or whatever. Except a treat like a waxworm he‘ll kill for it. What does Bilbo prefer? Btw when he was younger he also didn’t eat dubia’s and his taste was more for hoppersInteresting…. Mine won’t eat dubias.
