Hey, ive had my Veiled Chameleon for about 6 months now :)
shes been doing really well, eating out my hand, lets me get her out, even sits on my head while i play my ps3 =D

But last week or so shes become very vicious and seems to stay on the ground?

ive read up on them laying eggs and stuff, but im really unsure what to do.

Any advice please?

She is growing up and she is going to stand her ground now. Be careful look what mine did to me :( https://www.chameleonforums.com/my-veiled-got-me-20977/

I think this may just be "growing up" as the previous post suggests, but as an alternate theory, make sure you are not wearing anything that is setting him off. The other day I walked into the chameleon room wearing an orange baseball cap with a blue logo on it. My normally shy male carpet chameleon went full psycho on me. I was baffled until it occurred to me that the hat may be freaking him out. I left the room, took off the hat, and came back in. He was completely calm. :eek:

Just a thought...

Do research

Also, she seems to drag her nose along the ground, and shakes like an old lady when she cimbs

You have some serious issues to adress.

Please fill out the 'how to ask for help' info sheet.

Shee might have MBD and she prolly needs to lay...

Do you have any kind of laying bin for her?

Do a search for 'raising kitty' Read up on that blog. The Blog is Brad Ramsey's so if you do a search for his profile and click the link in his signature you'll be on you way..

Agreed here, an "old lady" cham is NOT normal. Pics are great.

Ok - update :)

Sorry no pics, i dont have a camera :(

i think ive found out what was wrong, im pretty sure she was constapated.

ive been feeding here to many of these worms, with hard shells and shes having a hard time digesting them.

i havent seen her poo for a good 3 - 4 days, and about 30 mins ago, she let one go, and it doesnt look pleasant, ive changed her feed now, gave her a lime and some crickets, shes climbing about and isnt hissing when i go to touch her.

il keep ya all updated

ty for the help so far

Things are getting alot worse.

ive managed to get some pics, there not very good quality.

she had a black eye ( i think its been burned from the UV light)
she also has black/burn marks over her head and body, on both sides, one side is worse than the other.

Do you think she had gone blind? she had no balance, and falls everytime she climbs, she cant even walk without tripping over he own feet!

when i got her out to take the photos, she was clinging on to me really tight, and didnt even try to move.

Time for a vet visit i think?

Do her eyes close? When you took her out of the cage, did she look at you? Are both eyes moving around often? If they are still moving around this probably means she isn't blind. But yes, a vet visit is probably best.

WTH is that!?:confused::confused:

What kind of lighting are you using? You really need to fill out the 'how to ask for help' sticky in the health clinic before anyone can really begin to help you.

Ok, ive booked her in to see the vets :) - 3 days time, earliest they can fit me in :(

Anyway - filled out the info sheet.
Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Exo Terror - Glass ( mesh top) not 100 sure on the size, but it was recomended by the pet shop. its massive tbh :p

* Lighting - i use a 60 Watt Basking bulb ( outside of cage) - UV light - Exo terror repti glow 2.0, 15W

* Temperature - Not sure on the tempurature, my temp gage is always in orange, goes to blue over night.

* Humidity - Spraying 3 times aday, did have a waterfall and a Dew machine, but got fed up changing it all the time.

* Plants - Fake plants and vines.

* Location - On the floor, nothing is next to it, radiator is a good 20 inches away, i have that on low, comes on 3 times aday.

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameloen, female, about 9 months old, had it for 6 months.
* Handling - once a week if that, when friends come over, they always want to hold it.
* Feeding - Locusts, Crickets, Wax worms, meal worms - used to eat 4 - 5 bugs aday, doesnt seem to eat any since its become ill.
* Supplements - none.
* Watering - Mist 3 times aday, using room temp tap water, mist about 30 seconds each time, get the leaves and glass nice and soaked. yes shes drinks out of the mister.
* Fecal Description - Big and brown, small White/yellow bits on the end. not been tested for parasites.
* History - Nope, was looked after in the pet shop from a baby.
* Current Problem - Black/burns over body, doesnt move, eat, and seems to be very weak.

Hope this info helps. thanks a bunch

This isn't always true, but since you dont even know what the temperatures are in your environment and there are burns on your chameleon, a mesh, full round cage should be used.
* Lighting - i use a 60 Watt Basking bulb ( outside of cage) - UV light - Exo terror repti glow 2.0, 15W

This doesn't sound like a linear UVB tube. You might want to get one, since it is constantly said on here that UVB compact bulbs are bad for your chams and can cause eye damage.

* Temperature - Not sure on the tempurature, my temp gage is always in orange, goes to blue over night.

You really need to be sure of the temperature at all times, as this is very important, especially if your chameleon has apparent burns. You also need a hydrometer to check humidity, since humidity is very important as well.

Try not to feed your chameleon too many mealworms. They're high in chitin and can cause constipation.
* Supplements - none.
You -really- need supplements. You need to be dusting your crickets with products like reptivite or rep-cal. Chameleons need calcium, D3 and Vit A in order to remain healthy. You should also be gutloading your crickets with vegetables to ensure they're full of nutrients when feeding your chameleon.

It seems you have several things that could be playing a factor in your chameleon's condition. My above notes can help you improve your environment. Pet stores rarely know wth they're talking about, tbh, and I know this because I was misinformed as well. Good luck.

This is a linear tube lamp. Exo Terra and Zoo Med both make linear lamps that are 2.0.

The 2.0 is most likely the issue with this cham. You should try and get your hands on a Zoo Med Reptisun 5.0 linear tube. the 2.0 lamps simply don't provide enough UVB. this is especially true if the light is passing through screen. Also, do NOT put any plastic or glass between your chameleon and the lamp. Plastic and glass both filter out UVB, rendering the lamp useless.

Also read up on Brad Ramsey's site. Check out the supplementing page.

i just remembered, my bro got a new cage for his lizard, and his uv light didnt fit, so we swopped, my old one was a 5.0 .. think i should ask for it back, or just go buy a new one

If your cham stays indoors and doesn't get unfiltered sun on a consistent basis, coat your feeders with this

You also should be coating with this every now and then.

If your cham DOES get consistent sun, I like this calcium supplement from Stickey Tongue.
