Zuri has dropped a few stillborns in the past week or so (her actual birth was a month ago today). It's been pretty rough on her and I thought after this last one she was done. I came in the door today and saw this: image.jpg

WHAT IS THIS?! I'm seriously concerned!! She's been trying to push it outbut she's clearly exhausted. What do I do?? She's a live bearer so I'm not sure at all what this could be! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would have to guess prolapse as well but I don't have any experience with live bearing so maybe it is something else. I would keep it moist and give a vet a call.

I can not answer that! :( it just looks like that. Maybe females can have something like that. I suggest take her to the vet!

Yes females can prolapse. She needs to get to the vet. In the mean time I have put Preperation H on prolapse's until I could get to the vet. It will help take the swelling down and might even recede on its own.

Our female mediterranean Spur Thighed tortoise prolapsed 5 years ago whilst trying to lay, its a very serious condition and can result in the death of the animal. Hopefully your Cham will be okay? Gertie (our tort) survived but she had to have major surgery (complete underside of her shell removed) and it was touch and go for a while. Best of luck.

Thanks for the info everyone! Sure enough, it was a cloacal prolapse, most probably brought on by the 3 dry births that she's had in the past week and a half. Luckily, it rescinded on its own on the way to the clinic. The vet told me to keep an eye on her closely the next few days in case it happens again and if it does, he wants to stitch it back in place. He also told me not to breed her again or he can almost guarantee it will happen again. After these stillborns I had already decided that I wouldn't breed her again anyway so that's not a problem.

I'm really hoping this is the end of Zuris problems. She's had a rough go lately and now it's time to start recuperating! Fingers crossed for my poor little girl!!

This is good to know! I'll have to run out and get some to keep on hand just in case this does happen again! Thanks Carl :)

Poor girl. I'm glad it went back in on it's own. I hope it stays put. Sorry she's been through so much a short amount of time. Hopefully the worst is past.

So glad to hear she's ok! Poor thing has been thru way too much! I hope your Zuri is now healthy and will stay healthy! Fingers crossed!
