Hi all,

I am new to chameleon husbandry but had been patiently waiting for one for 11 years when I finally picked up my pair of rudis chameleons a few days ago. The guys at the store told me that she may be gravid. I couldn't really tell but i looked at her this afternoon and her belly was alarmingly big! Here is the photo I took of her, hopefully someone will be able to guess if she truly is or not???

If she does in fact give birth, does anyone have any suggestions on how to inexpensively set up an enclosure to keep the babies? I have spent a small fortune over the past few days and cannot afford (on my husbands dime) to purchase another whole new enclosure.

fo r the babies for the first couple months you can put them in a 10 gallon enclosure with a top and of course and not too high for them to climb so they don't fall and hurt themselves

Keep them in any kind of bucket/ container that can lift them off of the ground, yet not too high. Make sure that it's off of the ground at about eye level.

Try Pop-up butterfly cages. Sold on ebay and amazon Make sure the net is very fine or the wingless fruit flies will get out.

These guys are hard to tell for just looking at them. I have 3 gravid females. My females will turn black if exposed to a male.

Just for your info. This species is now Trioceros Sternfeldi. They are not longer a subspecies of rudis. So calling them rudis is now incorrect.
