Careers?

This may be a silly question, but does anyone know of any careers dealing with the study and research of animals in captivity and in nature? I'd like to choose such a career and specialize in herpetology, and a fairly big part of that is because I want to be able to study chameleons. Any thoughts?

Biology would give you the chance to study them in the wild. I'm not sure there are any careers dealing with that field. You could also become a professional reptile breeder too.

Biology will probably be your best bet. Through biology you can specialize in any number of things or niches, including reptiles. I worked with a professor in college that who had advanced degrees in neuroscience and his research dealt with snakes and how they detect heat with their pits. He also bred and sold tortoises and tree pythons at home. So you can do any number of things and still end up working with reptiles in research, you don't have to feel like a degree in herpetology is your only option.

I want to be a vet and or get into exotic species breeding in the wild so I'm going for animal science
