To catch up with the carlos saga - please see 'puffy eyes, no pooing..tinned pears' and 'Carlos: life and death decision'
So, in the end we couldnt do it and we brought him home. I had a small spare glass tank - that i dont think is ideal long term but for home hospitalisation, it does the trick.
I am giving him two drops of anibiotics a day
I drip feed him a mix i made up (which me and my boyfriend lovingly call death mix - due to the ingredients) It consists of :
Half a scoop of carnivore powder
4 x scoops of water
3 large crickets (gut loaded with tomato and capsicums (peppers)
3 x wax worms
2 x drops of calcium
I process this in the blender to a smooth liquid and feel him a 3 - 6 drops 4 times a day
In addition, i have started giving him komodo revitalive for the electrolytes
also, drip feeding him mineral water
I also spritz him wiht warm water 5 times a day
In his mini hospital tanks he has:
reptisun 10.0 uv strip light
40w spotlight reflector bulb
Paper for the floor
a ficus and 1 plastic vine and a brown curly climbing thingy
I have also put a whole wax worm in a bowl just in case
Temp is around 85
Humidity is around 68 depending on when i have spritzed and there is a fresh air flow through the tank.
His condition:
Today he drank water from the walls on his own for the first time
His eyes open every now and then but they are tiny and not 'popping'
His eyes are still sunken
His movement is slow (even for a chameleon)
His colour is generally dark brown or black but sometimes he goes a pale yellowy green
He moves around sometimes, a little bit, more than he did and he can still cling on a branch.
However he prefers to be on the floor and sleeps on the floor at night, not moving till the lights come on again in the morning.
He tail is not refattening though.
So i cant work out whether he is getting better or not
I am now open to all and any suggestions.
I have attached the latest picks
