I bought a bunch of carrots and oranges to put in my cricket holder, is that enough for gutload or do I need to add more stuff like collard greens?

Thanks for the tip. Will these be okay for a day or two til I can make it to the store? My cham is coming in the mornign, and I got my crix so I want it to all be ready and full to feed him ya know?

They should be fine :) If you use SEARCH type in Gut Loading and there should be some forums that pop up with a greater variety on what you can give them. Some people even have recipes on what to give them.

Do you need to give them all the cricket food stuff? I thought fruits and veggies and commerical cricket food was enough?

I so find that misting the food I feed the crickets once, gives them water and none have died on me yet :) Just a suggestion.

Yeah buying thre food fresh tends to save money. Hence my tip on the water. Just one spray from your chameleons spray bottle (maybe 1/2 a spray.) works pretty well

I think cricketfood.com is worth it. I have 4 chams and I was going to the organic store to get dandelion, kelp, endive, collards all this stuff to gutload with, which cost quite a bit and for 4 chams I dont need huge bundles of all this stuff. I found out about cricketfood.com. I bought it and its way easier, cheaper and less time consuming. It has over 30 different ingredients. I still rotate veggies and things but I dont have to have all that crap in my fridge at one time.

I bought Flukers Cricket Food at petsmart, they seem to like it, they devoured the carrots this morning, and I put an orange slice in there and they seem really attracted to that too.

I am going to start dusting tomorrow, I just got my cham this morning.

How long will a 5lb thing from cricketfood.com last me approx? Do I need to use alot each day or what?

I have a big tub I will use for the 1000 crix, and I bought a "cricket keeper" from the pet store, ill grap out his next days food each day, throw lots of veggies in there and let them munch all nigth before I feed them to my cham, will that work? What do you guys do?

That's a great way to gutload, and you won't use a lot of the good stuff.
Use the flukers to feed the big group and feed the cricketfood.com diet and fresh food the night before to the ones you pull for feeding.
It doesn't take a lot.

Awesome, should I use carrots and veggies still or no?

Ill go ahead and order a 5lb tub, hopefully that lasts me a month or two.

Hey Mindless, I too am a relatively new cham owner and I bought a 5lb bag of cricketfood in September 07 and still have about half left. I would definitely recommend it as its full of nutrients.
As for the natural gutload... Oj and carrots will be good for gutloading but you should vary it up with all the others on the list. And from my take on it, the variety comes during different gutload regiments. You dont need to provide the variety of greens to every feeding, maybe just about 2 ot 3 natural items at a time. Today I used Green Apple, Orange, and Kale. The next feed Ill use Lettuce, Carrot, and some other fruit. Then I just rotate those. And I dip all the fruit in the cricketfood.com gutload,
(sounds like a plug for cricketfood.com) cricketfood.com cricketfood.com
Enjoy.
