Casque crest broken

I have had my chameleon for 3 years. A week ago, I noticed what looked like a burn on his casque. I made adjustments to the cage so the lamp would not burn him. Today, a part of his casque broke off. I think it might be the bone. Any thoughts? I am waiting for a vet appointment.

Oh gosh! I have no idea! But i'm thinking of him, let us know how the vet goes <3

It looks like it could just be the skin ridge over the bone. I'm pretty sure my rescue guy had a similar burn at one point. You can see how the darker ridge at the front suddenly ends and dips in. Your vet will be able to give you more answers.
