so lately i've been doing alot of research on the Oustalet's Chameleon and how it's becoming a invasive species of chameleon in south florida , I grew up here in south florida and wanted to catch them myself If there's anyone who's in south florida who would want to team up and catch a couple of these giant's and help with another set of eyes in tracking them down it would be great. I've already found out the location's where these animal are only thing to do now is just go out and find them.

it is true veileds can be found there but oustaleti is more common in the area there are a reported 46 captured in one area i know of and 19 in another area i know

I'm Sooooo down. But hey where the heck you gonna put them? Or shall i say bring them? You can't keep a bunch of almost wild chams!! :p

You need a license from the FWC to be able to hunt or collect wild species, even if they are non-native. Its a long process.

I have inquired about this and spoken directly with the FWC. You have to have the permits otherwise you can get into serious trouble. The only way you can hunt for wild chameleons here in florida is if its on private land and you have permission from the owner (i.e a signed letter stating what you are doing and that the landowner is giving you permission).

A fellow chameleon keeper and scientist when looking for chameleons in LaBelle and got shot at.. he was not even trespassing. I highly suggest to stay out of the area.

Wow that is the last thing I need right now, to get shot for trying to catch a chameleon.
And pssh I know people get WC chams all the time. I have 3 myself. But honestly its not fair for the cham and the only lil CB I have is awesome and 10 times less stressed then my WC's. Just saying

I believe she meant if they are caught where they are not supposed to be. i.e here in florida

one thing i do know is that i did happen to talk to FWC because my dad work's with them and as far as i know FWC officer told me i didnt need a permit to capture the animals or anything but what i do need a permit for is getting on state land, but anyone wanting to do this with me is welcome to come.

You need one to capture the chameleons if they are on FWC owned lands.

yeah i want to get one so i dont have that issue later on but for now I'm beating around the bush.

You should search some more. There was a guy on here who caught them in Ft.Myers but never disclosed the location. He said he was helping the wildlife, and didnt want to do it for the money. BS.. he wanted all of them for himself, otherwise he would've had all of us floridians helping out.

The likelyhood of finding one without having previous knowledge is almost 0.. ask around to see who has found and ask where, otherwise you will not find any.. I guarantee it.

Be careful if you go - LaBelle is a bit like Deliverance country and there's a good chance you'll hear banjos playing :D All the free WCs in the world wouldn't tempt me to tromp around the countryside there  That said, best of luck!
