Celebrating a White Urate at last!

WHOOPPEE!!!! :D This morning was the first time that Tommy has pooped two days running since I got him back in November. His urate was small but completely white today! I was so happy! :D He was never misted properly before I got him and his urates have always been mostly orange until now. I know that he isn't dehydrated as his eyes are very full and round and he drinks every time I mist and I've seen him use his dripper!

He hasn't been very 'regular' since I got him - one poop every week or so, which makes today even more special! I have not been overly worried, because as has been discussed before on here, the longer the urate stays inside their body, the more dehydrated and orange it becomes before being passed. So I am very happy today to see this totally white urate in his cage!:D It confirms that he is as healthy on the inside as he looks on the outside. I was concerned that his kidneys had been damaged due to lack of misting before I got him, but my mind is now at rest! He always enjoys his two mistings - he just sits with his eyes closed and drinks, bless him! He is one happy chappy!:D

Good job Mommy! Tommy is a lucky cham to have you. It is amazing how happy we are when they poop. It's really a joy, but don't tell anyone other than a cham owner or they'll look at you, like  Okaaaaaaaay. :D

Lol, yeah! They look at you like you just came from another planet! Even my hubby was like 'Is that good then?' I was like: 'Duh! Course it is - I've been waiting for this for months!!' ;) Funny how us cham owners are easily pleased with a pile of poop!:D:D

LOL I have to agree

I have only had Stewie for just under 2 weeks and I have realised I spend ages looking for poop and urates!!! But I love being a cham mummy and I am pleased to hear that Tommy is doing well :)

Stewie is almost a year old isn't he? I can't remember how old he is. They don't always poop every day as adults, in fact they can go for well over a week without 'going' sometimes! Lily had that down to a fine art bless her! I think the longest Tommy has had between poops was 2 weeks. They like to keep you on your toes and stress you out, lol!:D

congrats Tiff. good news at last.
keep up the great work.

I'm wondering, did you ever use a dripper on him?
the reason I ask is that when I first got little Laurie I used dripers almost every day to help fix her urates, and it only took her 5 days or so to do so.
bare in minds she is drasticly younger then tommy, and that will have an effect too.

He's always had a dripper. His last owner had a dripper of sorts which emptied really quickly, but he never misted him. I did make some adjustments to the dripper so he can drink straight from the tube and I have seen him use it. He has learnt to really enjoy his mistings too - he loves it! I also think it had a lot to do with the fact that he's 'been' two days running - usually he goes for a week or so in between so a lot of water is absorbed from the urate before it eventually gets passed! I was just so happy this morning I could have cried, lol! It's the first one I have seen him do that was completely white!:D I was a very proud Chamele-mum!:D

God I love you Tiff. You are the only person other than me who is completely thrilled by a good poop. We chameleon owners do lead exciting lives, don't we? Well don't we????

Oh Laurie! Lol! You have no idea how excited I was - I kept telling him what a clever boy he is, lol! (Yes I do know they can't hear, but I talk to them anyways!)

Congrats!

Congrats... what a challenging thing this drinking thing can be. I so wanna get to that point w/ my Diego. Any tips or tricks or does he just enjoy & cooperate? I try not looking but then I'm not sure if I'm just missing his drinking. Congrats again, soooo exciting & I can't wit to get there too. ;)

I just love how pet owners get so excited (and successfully have deep and meaningful conversations!) about poo!
