Cham And Eating

I dont feed my cham 5 days max a month. I only feed him 8- 15 crickets.. Should I be feeding more? The not feeding 5 days is me forgetting and being stupid. I try my best to feed him everyday but my crickets all die quickly and I get home at 7:00 pm and sometimes forget/cant get to the pet store.... What do you suggest to help me remember, help me keep my crickets alive longer, and what do I do if I miss a few feedings?

how old is your cham and waht type, mising a few days wont hurt at all. i only feed some of my guys 4 days a week once they are outta the baby stage.

He is about 5 months now? He is still a midget though...

Did I read this correctly, you only feed him 5 days a month!?! I really hope i miss read this.

That's fine. Have you tried ordering in bulk and housing the crickets in large containers with fresh food available always? Then you should always have insects available. It's not like you're forgetting very often so it's not a big deal. However, he really should be fed in the morning. Make it your morning routine to put something in a feeding cup for him (or throw them in the cage) and then you don't have to worry about it all day.

Only feeding a cham 4 days out of the week would mean that the cham would not eat approximately 12 days out of one month. This is ok if the cham is an adult or approaching adulthood as they tend to eat less and can go much longer without eating with no problem.

At 5 months I would still feed the cham daily though. Do your best to try and always have some crickets available. Throwing some feeders in the cage before you head off to work would be a good idea. Your cham is at a point in his life where it is growing very rapidly and needs the food. If you find yourself too busy with work or to properly care for the cham then maybe you should reconsider owning a chameleon. They take up a lot of time and are not the type of pet to lack care for. Their health can deteriorate rapidly without you knowing until it may be too late.

I would suggest raising some Lobster or Dubia roaches.....you can feed the smaller ones to your cham. at this age and you'll have bigger ones when he/she is ready.....
