Cham doesn’t move around enclosure much

Eustis has never moved around his cage much. He comes out and basks in the morning, eats, then goes and hides in the same place every day. I did see him drinking yesterday. I have a dripper that i fill every day. But really that’s it. Is this cause for alarm? He’s awake all day, just sits in the same place.

Sounds about right. hes still in the "eat me" stage. Till hes big enough to not be bird food, you will have a pet tree.

Hi do you have any pictures to put him into perspective I don't know anything about jacksons but he seems small for one year old maybe just not as old as that

I’ll have to try to get another of him. He is small but Jackson xanthalophus only get to be I think 10-12 inches including their tail. He’s hiding right now and when I try to take a picture with my hand next to him he swivels to the side of the branch. I really don’t want to stress him out.

I do have some pics from the first couple weeks after getting him. I don’t know if they’ll be any better. He hasn’t grown much I don’t think. He’s in the back of his enclosure and I’m at the front in these photos so it makes him look tiny.

They are a bit timid at the 6 months to a year stage. If they have plenty of cover they tend to come out more, ironically. My older adults aren't terribly active beyond their basic routine, scope out the feeder, eat, drop down low to poop and then bask or hang out in favored spot or spots. Sometimes they repeat 1 & 4 with stops in between.

Ok, that’s good to know. I really don’t know how old he is but he looks like my other jacksons did that I had years ago when they were a year old.

My panther didn't exactly hide all day, but it took several months for him to venture down into his enclosure to explore.

Now he does "the rounds" several times a day.
