Cham eating fake leaves

I sometimes see my male ambilobe panther chameleon attempts to eat the fake plants that are in his cage. I feed him Dubai roaches (3-4 medium sized ones a day) and give him drinks many times a day. He also has a dripper system and a monsoon mister system with 2 active nozzles (I have 6 but I need to set them up). He is very friendly, he sometimes goes to the side of his cage and paws at the door until I let him out, he also has never bit or hissed at anyone. his enclosure is 6'wide by 2'deep by 3'tall with many live plants and fake vies. He also attempts to eat the dead parts of the living plants. Here is an image of his cage it has 2 UBV bulbs, 3 heat lamps, and a ceramic heater. all the plants in the cage are on the list of plants safe for chameleons.

does anyone know why he would only eat the dead plants or the fake plants.

Offer him dark leafy greens, Kale, collard, mustard, dandelion, beet greens. My chameleons eat any living green I offer them. I can't keep pothos in there because they eat it within minutes.

If your chameleon is trying to eat the artificial plants in the cage then I would get them out of the cage before he succeeds....you don't want him to become impacted.

I thought that Panther chameleons were not supposed to eat plants, that is why I found it strange for him to be trying to eat them.

To each their own I guess. I would agree with above opinion, get the fake plants out. The material could get stuck in his digestive system causing impaction.

Me too. My veiled will eat anything leafy. The only live plants I can keep in there are air plants and succculents, other than his little salads of course :D

The succulents look kind of misplaced but he likes climbing on them so I can't imagine taking them away from him.

So I took out all the fake plants and put in some golden pothos and he has begun to eat them some days I go in and there are bites taken out of the leaves? If he eats too much could it be bad for him?
