Cham got burnt

Hi,
My Ambilobe female must have slept too close to the heat light and burnt her back a few weeks ago. I was hoping after a shed she would lose much of the damaged skin. But the area is not shedding correctly and the remaining skin has stayed stuck on her for last few days (see pics).
Is there something I can do to help her?

Sorry to hear about her burn. It looks a little more severe to heal after one shed. She will most likely always have some scaring there. I would see if you cant find some Silver Sulfadiazine cream to put on the burn to help it heal as well as reduce a possible infection.

Also, I would find out exactly how she got the burn and fix whatever the issue is that caused it right away if you haven't already. She shouldn't be able to get close enough to the light to cause a burn.

How do you have her lighting attached to the cage? Could you post pictures of her cage? If your light is sitting directly on top of the cage that might be why she got burned. We have all of ours clamped above the cage and not touching the screen.

If she'll let you, try holding a warm (barely warm to your fingers not hot!) wet cloth over the stuck shed to see if gently soaking and moving it will help loosen it more. If it really won't come off easily don't pull on it, as it may break open a partly formed scab underneath. If it does start coming off, leave her alone and watch for signs of infection around the edges of the burned area.

The light does sit on the screen, but I moved it to an area she cannot climb to. Previously I had a branch right under it.
Should I put polysporin on that spot maybe? Ill try the warm moist cloth to loosen the shed skin.

Most of us have our lights sitting on the screen. That is fine. What you have to be careful is how far down the basking branch is below the light. That is how they get burned getting too close. Also if you have a clamp uvb light you do not want to raise that any higher as you will start to diminish the rays by doing that. The screen already blocks some of the rays as is.

I don't clamp mine and I think most others don't either.

I believe Polysporin that is similar to Neosporin so yes you can. Just make sure that it doesn't have any added pain relief and is just plain Polysporin.

I agree, mine all sit on the cages. The only lights above the screen are my silly babies who hang upside down on the screen half the time. That is the heat light I raise not the UVB.
