Hi there! My veiled girl, Stella, just laid her very first clutch, however she wasn't bred so they were of course infertile. She laid 95 eggs. From what I've been told, that's a lot. I was just wondering that if they were fertile, what percentage of those would hatch? Also - how long do we have to wait until breeding her, because we are getting a male that is capable of breeding (if you've read my other posts you'd understand why my male is incapable of breeding).

My veiled girl laid 97 her first clutch, which was my fault.. too high temperatures, too much food, etc.. very taxiing on them.

Out of the 97, I think about 80 or so hatched 11-13 months later.

If you want to breed her, make sure she is a mature adult.. in other words, older than 12 months or so and of excellent health! Also, be careful during breeding as the males can be very rough and hurt the females.

That's a big clutch, the largest clutch i ever had was from a very large WC Veiled female, she was about 10mos old when i got her.. Waited about another 9-10 months before i bred her, first clutch 60 second was 85 and the 3rd was 114 in her first season. They were by no means overfed either.

She is about 1y 4m. I also have a couple more questions - we're thinking about getting a translucent morph to breed with her. Would any of the babies be translucents? She is just a regular female veiled from a pet shop.

That's a LOT of Ca stripped from your gal. Lower temps and food next go around. If not, MBD or an early painful death. A good clutch for a veil is 30-43. Anything higher is dangerous. Get that girl some silkworms and a good brand of Ca supplement.
