so i have 2 jacksons. 1 male and 1 female. but i already posted earlier about her. anyways i have made a diy sunny d death trap and it has been in my chams cage for about 2 weeks. the problem is he doesnt eat out of it. i put about 5 cricks in in the morning and i come home and they r still there. then i pull them out and let them run in front of him and he goes right for them. i just dont know why hes not eating out of the container.

he just might not like to eat that way. As long as he is eating, then let them run loose!!! It is better for them to hunt anyways I think

i would love to let them run loose but my enclosure is pretty big and i have lots of foliage in there so sometimes they hide and he cant find them so i think he will have a hard time eating as much.

gosh, I don't know what to tell you. Is the cup too deep or something? There must be something that is not appealing to your chameleon.

have you seen the milk jug feeder lined with screen in the back? It is a cool idea and the crickets are really easy to access for the chameleons versus the standard cup. You will have to do a search though. I cannot remember who came up with it but it was a great idea. I never used it though I have to say!!

i dont know if it makes a difference that my cham is a panther, but i have tried every known cup feeding i have found and he never has eaten out of it. i have switched to silkworms and put them in the night before and by morning when the lights come on they migrate to the top of the plants for the warmth of the light and then he picks them off. i was always worried about free roaming crickets because the horror stories about them nibbling on the reptiles. dont know if this helps at all.

I hold the cup up to my panther and get the crickets to crawl around and he picks them off. Then I let one or two go on a stick in front of him and he gets to hunt a little. If I let any go in his cage, they end up crawling up the screen and he will hunt and pick them off that way.
