hey people my cham didn't eat anything today and refused to eat still....he was eating fine yesterday but im not sure why today he doesnt want to even look at the food.

should i be worried...... ??

male

7 months
shed 2 weeks ago
eats 2-3 times a day.

gave him silkies a week ago.....

As long as he ate fine yesterday, I wouldn't be worried. My boyfriend's cham who is almost 8 months didn't seem interested in food at all about a week ago, and he usually eats right away. Then the next day he was ready and waiting! He snatched food before it even got all the way in his cage! lol I'd say just see what happens tomorrow.

i tried feeding him today morning and he ate 1 superworm after 5 minutes of trying to feed him. the rest of the day he doesnt want to eat anything.... hes drinking fine though...just doesnt want much to do with food today.....

I gutload my supers with dandelions or greens, carrots and oranges, they grub on it. My adult male panther will only eat supers at this time. I hope you're gutloading them.

Sounds like he's sick of crix. Keep in mind that cham's don't only eat crickets in the wild. They eat over 50 types of insects. Variety is key in a healthy chameleon. Try feeding him something new every day and make sure everything is gut loaded.

Where can I find this stuff???? The dandilion gutloading that you're using ...

Dandelions are found growing wild, they are a weed that grows in lawns. I don't use weed killer on my lawn, so I can use them. You can Google it to see what they look like. The collard and turnip greens, carrots, yams, oranges you can find in the produce section of your grocery store.

A healthy cham doesnt sit in one spot all day. They like to move and explore. How many days has it been since he has eaten? A healthy cham can go weeks without food. If you are really worried fill out the ask for help form so we can pinpoint a potential problem

My suggestion would be to start with the basics, re-check your husbandry, look around the room and see if you can tell if something is stressing him out. I could be that he may be trying to escape because his set up isn't right, or he sees something outside the cage that he wants like an open window with trees outside. Maybe try to cover half his cage with a towel or blanket to calm him down. Don't panic! ;) As far as eating, he is okay to go a week or so or like others have said, he may just be bored with his food. Keep us posted.

never mind my dad told me he ate a silkworm in the morning so hes not completely cutting off food, ive seen him drink also and running around the whole cage....i think hes alright...

thanks for the help and now i know what to do if he doesnt want to eat.

Go back to the basics and recheck everything....

Gutload should be easy to find, no need to wait till summer. Gutloading is very important. Probably more so than dusting, especially with certain species.

Step 1. Go to Grocery Store
Step 2. Buy various veggies. A few examples, kale, spinach, carrots, romaine, squash, potatoes, yams. There are a ton more, that is the beauty of the modern day supermarket.
Step 3. Feed bugs.
Step 4. Feed Chameleon.

Good luck.

You are also going to want to mix up his diet. Keep him busy with different insects so he doesn't get board with one type of food.

He's 7 months old?
he doesn't have to actually eat EVERYDAY, you can start feeding him every other day i believe. You really need to gutload everything before you feed them to him, or else he doesn't get anything from the bugs, although silkworms and hornworms are pretty high in calcium. And are you using calcium supplements on his crickets?
