Cham still thinks I'm food!

I've made a post about this before, and was told just not to look directly at him, which I did, but he STILL thinks I'm food?! When I open the cage he runs over, and if I put my hand out, he jumps right on it, and i can't look at him when he does this or he'll try to shoot my eye out! His cage is elevated pretty high, I have to stand on a chair to get to him, so I have to blindly reach out to put him in his cage, and I'm scared h might jump/ fall off my hand in his eagerness to get my eyes. I just want some tips on how to stop this, because I can't hold him when he does it.

I had a veiled who did something like this lol, if I stuck my tongue out he would try to shoot my tongue. Or even if I rubbed my pointer finger and thumb together quickly he would go for that. Makes me wonder if it's a vision thing.

Deep rooted instinctual behavior to movement, and then enhanced by associating with food in your fingers

I had assumed this, just normally he'd never seen me touch the crickets, then again he'd see my hand holding the feeder cup. Still funny to see.

Don't use your hand, use a stick he can climb on so you can keep your distance! I remember reading about another chameleon shooting at the owner's eye. I don't think anyone ever figured out why though.
