Cham Terrarium New Build

This is F'in sickkk. This is a work of art. It looks like a zoo exibit.

I got tons of ideas from this..:D

I think that's a great idea. are you concerned with mold building up behind the cork and on the silicone that's covered? I'm not big fan of particle board I think melamine with the edges sealed would work well.

I'm not bashing your build. I think you really put some thought into it and it looks great. I'm thinking about building a couple large Terrariums and I'm just getting some ideas together.

Well cork is naturally mold and mildew resistant. The silicone I used has mold preventatives in it as well for 5 years. I did not put the cork touching the bottom it's about an inch off the ground and when spraying it dries in minutes. I also provided the bottom with a drain should I need it.

Wow.... that is everyones dream I think, I love it! Looks amazing! Not only is it perfect but lots of thought was put into it! I think you did a great job, I am trying to get enough nerve to building my own but I dont know where to start! great job

Excellent! I love seeing other "display" builds around these boards there simply aren't enough!

I too am curious how you protected your wood. Merely "covering" it with the cork panels will not suffice as water will still get back there....did you seal it with something? Otherwise I would be very concerned about future mold issues

Can you link me to the fiberglass you used for waterproofing? I have been trying to find a locally obtainable product like this (I've been looking for PVC sheets, but I can't find them at HD/Lowe's/etc, only online :( )

I believe it is FRP board that they used, you can get it at HD and Lowes. If your looking for pvc board, try sign shops. Thats where I found it near me. Also its not too bad ordering it of the net, shipping wise.

I used what's called FRP panelling or FRP wall board. You can find it at both HD/Lowes. Usually in the lumber section by the base moldings, crown moldings, etc... Don't ask my why???
It comes in a 4'x8' sheet. They only stock certain colors usually always white. This is the barrier i used between the plywood and the cork.
Hope this works:

Here's the link where I got the cork:

They had a 50% off sale one day only around Christmas time. Not kidding when I say this "even with this being half off it was still the most costly part of this project"

Here's the silicone I used:

I used magnets to mount the screen. Got them from Home Depot.

This is the coolest freaking terrarium I have seen. Excellent job! I got a few ideas for my cham's terrarium ;)
