chamaeleo cristatus

WOW those are awesome looking. By the looks of there website they seem to know what they are talking about and take good care of there critters.

There is very little known about cristatus. As far as keeping in glass I believe you can keep a variety of montane species this way as long as you provide some air exchange with holes or a clip on fan. We do know that they are a cool temperature high humidity chameleon little else is known about them breeding , incubation temperatures, and general living conditions. Many believe because of there short tails compared to other chameleons that they prefer to be lower in the canopy in bushes and small trees. A chameleon well worth studying just because we no very little about them.

i need to start playing the lotto. i could get a zoo going in my house and charge twenty five cents to get in. take them on a tour. let them eat bugs if they want. i emailed the guy for info and this is what he said,

Keep them in a planted vivarium with a screen top. Low watt uv. High humidity. We treat them for parasites upon arrival but it is always good to get a fecal done. A 20 gallon heavily planted should do for 3. Let me know if you have any more questions.

so that is also what i know. i dont think a 20 gal will last a long time for the three tho. i would have to get something bigger. they would be cool to have tho.

I would keep 2 breeding pair of dart frogs in a 20 gal but not 3 juvenile cristatus. What do you do when they get bigger? I'm sure they don't tolerate each other like breves they are a small to medium size chameleon.

Nitpick of mine - It's pterodactyl, with a P. Please people, spell it right!

They look really nice, Nick tends to get in all the fun species. A species I want to try in the future... far future. When I can afford the space and deal with the potential for losses. Very tricky species from what I've heard.
