Chameleon academy vs. what I do

I was wondering if it was okay to feed 4 roaches every 3 days, or if I should follow the 3-4 roaches every other day.

I know Bill feeds some of his chams every 2 days. I feed my adults every other day but the amount of bugs that would be given total in a week is the same as is recommended, they just get smaller amounts sooner. I don't think either way is wrong, just pay attention to your cham and see what she tells you she needs.

I’m going to say no, but not for the reason that you’re asking about. The amount and frequency is fine imo, but I’m going to suggest giving a variety of feeders…not just roaches. It has been said that a diet too high in roaches can contribute to gout. Whether or not that is so, our chameleons still enjoy and need variety. My primary staples are crickets and roaches, but I always have at least one other staple feeder to add and make things interesting and of course, will add in a treat bug here and there.

So can I do roaches and the beta soldier flies and if so how many bsfs and where do I buy them, and how often should I do bsf instead of roaches.

Check out some of the forum sponsors like these - https://dubiaroaches.com/ https://www.thecritterdepot.com/ https://www.rainbowmealworms.net/ All have a variety of feeders and even variety packs, which are great. For bsfl, since they are smaller I will give about 2 in place of a 1/2” cricket or roach. This may help. Grasshoppers are becoming more common, thanks to the efforts of @SauceGandhi and his site https://feedmychameleon.com/ One of my favorite staple feeders is silkworms and there’s a few sources for those in the sponsors, including https://framschams.com/

Josh's Frogs is a really good place to get bugs from, they ship from the East Coast. As for the bugs, they have a whole bunch of different kinds from dubias to silkworms. I get my bugs from there :) The amount you feed every other day depends on the size and type of bug you are feeding. For example, if you are feeding medium dubia roaches, I would do about 2 or 3, and if you are feeding soldier fly larvae with the dubias, I would suggest maybe 5-6 since they are fairly small. Just a bit of advice! :D

I pull the black ones out and put them in a separate deli cup with a lid, then when those hatch I just let them out in my chameleon enclosures and watch them hunt. Its one of my favorite things to watch :)
