Chameleon Buffet

My wifes sister called and said she is leaving work and her car is covered with bugs. I jumped in the car and hurried over to her. She was not kidding. The count is 7 cicada and 14 katydids. I didnt bring cups for all the other bugs. I have to admit ive never seen some of the other bugs before. Her car was a chameleon buffet!

Maryland has the same problem. We actually get the 17 yr ones, and 'annual' ones.
the Difference is the amount. when we get the 17 yr hatch, they are literally everywhere, but the annual ones, while you hear them, you cant often find them. at least not as easily as you can when the 17 are out.
its actually two diferent species of cicadas.

thats a shame. they are seriously everywhere here. i couldnt tell you how many i didnt pick up.

im not sure. from what i understand they are on a mission to mate and dont eat once the emerge from the ground. i could be wrong on that.

people apparently sell dead ones and parts from them. heck people even sell harvester ants. i guess i could round up some for people here on the forums. those that are interested pm me for details.
