Chameleon Cage?

hey, so I'm new on here and I'm working towards getting a chameleon. I have a large area planned out (7 feet tall by 3 feet wide) and I was wondering what kind of things I could put in it.

I also have two aquatic turtles and was thinking about putting them at the bottom of the cage with lots of vines and leaves over it by about a foot so the Cham wouldn't see them often, do you think it'd be okay?

I believe other people have done the same thing with turtle and fish tanks. If I did something like that I would make it so the cham could not drink from it. The cham probably wouldn't do it anyway but you never know. I would worry about the bacteria in the water from the turtle hurting the cham. What kind of cham are you planing on getting? If you get a veiled I would fill the area with ficus trees and pathos. My veiled likes to nibble on the plants. Also put plenty of branches in there for climbing around. You can use real branches, store bought, or you can make your own.

Thanks for the help, I am planning on getting a veiled and I'll be sure to fallow your suggestions!

I don't know if the turtles' activity might stress the cham. They are pretty solitary. You will want to use a very good turtle tank filter to keep the water clean. The cham will be pooping into it as well as the turtles. I would also make sure you have rescue branches the cham can reach if it does fall into the water. Especially when the cham is small. I can easily see a turtle taking a chunk out of a swimming cham.

would putting a screen between the two areas be better? And would it make the chameleon sick if he/she were to drink the water even if it is from a filter? Thanks again.

A screen separation might be a hassle to keep clean and the turtles might mess with it....just don't know. As for the cham drinking the water, hopefully the cham won't be going down to the water area at all. All sorts of problems if it does. The filter you use would have to be bio active so it removes all the bad fecal and urate bacteria as well as food remains, dead feeders, etc...a good quality turtle tank filter would have to do this anyway. I was thinking that the cham could be at risk of drowning or getting bitten by the turtles if it needs to drink from their pool.

Alright, thanks
