Chameleon capability

Hello,
I have a general question which i came across on a croatian wikipedia page.
On the site it states that the chameleon can, in the case of a fall, blow it's lungs and "soften" the fall.
I doubt that this ever happens because I believe that the chameleon blows it's lungs only for intimidation purposes.
I just want to know if this is true or not.

They can and will "puff up" or inflate with air to cushion a fall. It's different from the intimidation "huff". My Jax used to swell up before he would jump down the stair. It was pretty hilarious but I tried to discourage him from falling.

When they do this inflation when they are falling they also splayed/spread their legs.

I didn't believe it because i heard a lot of people having problems with chameleons falling and getting hurt, but this is nice information to know
