Chameleon Colouration - What Affects it?

So I had a few questions about Cham colourations. What sort of factors effect them? I've seen Veiled's take on very vibrant colours in Photos from the forums here but I've not seem much other than orange, yellow, and green from my boy. While I realize this isn't particularly uncommon, it still made me interested in a few things.

I was wondering what kind of environmental factors can effect a chams permanent adult colours. Vibrant Plant Life? Lighting Conditions? Internal Enclosure colours?

Coloration is mostly genetic. Things like sight of mate/rival, temps, gravid/receptiveness and so on can affect color changes within the normal ranges of color.

also health.

these pictures are of the same chameleon, one is of when he's sick (eyes closed) the other is when he's healthy.
