since yestarday morning, after i misted his cage, hes been keeping his left eye shut, as if it was sleeping. the right eye looks completely fine. i wasnt too worried at first, but then he started rubbing it for a minute or two on a branch. He then ate about 4 superworms that i hand fed him. but his eye still isnt open. He was in the front of the cage about 5 hours later, basking under the uvb light. I opened the cage to turn a dripper on and he crawled on me!!! he has super strong grib and kind of hurts, but i didnt mind. i held him for the next ten minutes, and his eye actually opened up??? and looked completely normal. But once i put him back in his cage, he closed it again. Can someone tell me whats going on? i cant think of anything that could of caused him to be doing this. he buldges his eyes sometimes, as in he closes them, and wiggles them around as if he where cleaning them. Is it bad to directly mist a chameleon because i do it sometimes, but lightly. the reason i do it is becassue he seems to like it and licks the water off his lips. should i mist him more heavily or give him a shower? i dont want him to get blind or anything

He might have somthing stuck in there , I spray my cham's eyes lightly and he cleans them out all the time , doing the bulgey thing lol, try giving him a shower and try misting for a while and when he opens it try get some water in there so he can clean it out, if it doesn't help then you will have to take him to the vet !

okay i am going to take your advice. If he wants to come out again today, then i will try misting the entire eye. but can someone find me a herp vet around the tampa, florida area or saint petersburg florida? i cant seem to find one that is only for reptiles, ive been told that the ones that take care of other animals rarely know anything about reptiles, especially chameleons

and ill try giving him a shower but i dont think i should put him directly in front of the shower, right? how do i go about doing this? sorry for all the questions, im just a worried newbie. i dont want nothing to happen to this guy!! and also, if anyone could tell me, how much does it actually cost to get pet insurance at a vet, because i really dont wanna pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for an eye appointment. thanks!
