Chameleon drinking water! :)

Hello!

So I got my Chameleon last Thursday and I have been paying extra close attention to him, but I also give him lots of alone time so that he can feel comfortable with his new home

My 1st question is:
I have observed him do mostly everything; eat, sleep, walk around. Except for 1 thing, drink water.
Should I be worried he is not drinking?
I mist my habitat down constantly, and have a dripper.
Is there any health signs I should notice?

And I guess, is it normal to watch them drink? Is it common to see this?

it seems like mine likes to find a spot to perch hanging head down among some vines during misting.
I believe water runs down his body and seeps into his mouth.

I still have yet to see my cham drink she does do the hang head down thing when misted but not sure if that really drinking enough she poop is good bright white urates never used dripper or ice cubes

Congrats on your veiled! I absolutely love veileds. They show so much personality. Some chameleons can be secret drinkers. Just keep a close eye on his poop and if the urate part is white, not yellow or orange, then he's drinking. Here's my blog for how I recommend keeping veileds.

Hey jannb,

I completely forgot to mention that, I don't see any poop or urine in the cage.
My habitat is 2ftx2ftx2ft with a mesh setup, and I have coconut fiber as substrate.
So since it's a sort of big cage, I can't quite see his poop.
Or maybe I do, and I'm just not looking in the right spots.
Any tips?

poop is usally at the bottom of cage if cham is not drinking it may not be drinking I suggest posting a pic to help determine if your cham is dehydrated

I would suggest losing the substrate. There is no need for it other than aesthetics. Easier to clean with out it also.

I didn't see my veiled drink for 6 months after I got him. He is, as mentioned by jannb, a secret drinker.

You might find your little guys urates on leaves in the enclosure. If there "all white, then you're all right." if yellow......

I have coconut fiber as substrate.
You can get rid of the coconut fiber just put some white paper towels on the bottom or nothing at all, this way u will be easily notice the poop dropping.
Healthy sign will be her white urate but u do get the orange color sometime, along with no sunken eyes,n active in her cage not sleeping all day.
Sometimes they will drink if u not around ,so be sure to look for that poop.
