hi, i have a 4 month old baby veiled chameleon. today he was shedding, and i noticed he was eating some of the dead skin that he just shed off. it was the first time i've ever observed him doing this. i feed him more than enough crickets, so he i can't imagine him eating it because he's hungry. is this normal? or should i be worried? thanks!

Amy did it once too when she was about that age - she went to the lower branches and zapped the dead skin off the floor! She's not done it since and i haven't seen my little Monty do it either, but then he has only shed once yet. My crested geckos eat every last bit to cover their tracks - you are lucky to get to see them shedding, let alone find a piece to keep! (Yes I am THAT sad, I have little tubs of the best bits of shed skin!! :D) Gotta be done, like keeping a child's first shoes, lol!

lol ur hilarious Tiff, but i do have to admit i have some pics of some neat shed pcs i have found.

My "little" 7 month old veiled still eats at his skin... He is growing like a weed, and maybe he assumes that by eating his skin, he will stop his itchy, annoying process!
