Chameleon keepers are an odd bunch

Is it just me that thinks this, or are almost 100% of chameleon keepers weirdos (socially awkward)? or is it just reptile enthusiasts as a whole?

Idk but my room is FULL of plants...I have a whole bunch of plants at my house...ever since I started keeping chameleons I've just been accumulating plants and plants...yup every one thinks I'm a weardo...but oh well...every one is weard in there own way...

My house and yard is also full of trees and plants. I love my guys so very much and can't stand to be away from them. I guess there could be other thing much worse for people to be involved in.

I am extremely socially awkward, I have a lisp and stutter (boyfriend calls it cute though?) have spent my entire life rarely leaving the house besides to buy more video games (I play 24/7) and love reptiles..

Thats not what Im getting at because I love plants and animals as well, Im saying socially awkward, as in have no people skills, reclusive, etc.

As a whole if your going to stereotype, but everyone keeps chameleons from young, old, professionals, students, strange, classy ect and yes there is plenty of weird amongst us but some of us are actually quite normal id say. ;)

I'm a professional business person. I'm a real-estate investor, have an eBay store and have worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer for 27 years but I do love my animals. We still have friends over. Most like our chameleons and enjoy seeing the gang.

Id say its a fairly common inadequacy in reptile keepers yes.

Thats really a lot of people who keep any kind of "pet" though. ;/

Id say the cat people are much higher up on the list...

Not me. I'm social. I party I'm usually a butterly a little bit of everywhere. I'm very involved with customer service where I work. Im an auto technician and customers hate u before they get in the door.. my girlfriend says I'm to out going and likeable. People are usually very blown away by my collection of reptiles and plants. Lol

Kind of a funny question to ask on a chameleon forum by the way. Like hey are you all weirdos. Like sure lol. I Probably deal with more people in one week then most people do in there life .

You should see the other group of people I interact with. Talk about weirdos. I promote raves.

Im a very social person, I can keep a conversation with anyone. However I do perfer the quiet company of my close friends and animals.

I've always been a peron that could talk to a tree. I could walk in Starbucks and end up talking to a complete stranger. I prefer to be alone and independent, but I also enjoy socializing. I think it's a balance, and it all depends on your personality. Since I started keeping Chameleons, I've noticed some weird looks from people. Lol. Some people think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread, and others automatically think you must be weird. They seem pretty shallow to me anyways. If you can't appreciate and animal you can't cuddle with, then you are missing out on life.

I think everyone should do what they love and be who they are. You shouldn't have to hold yourself back by trying to be someone different. Do what makes you happy. Even if others might think you are weird for doing it. The people worth getting to know are the ones that appreciate your truth. Being unique isn't about being different, it's about being yourself.

Weird, maybe a little, depending on your idea of normal.
But not socially awkward, no. At least, I dont see myself that way. Some of the people I know who also keep chameleons are very sociable, outgoing, friendly, popular people.
