When should I turn the UVB and heat lamp off? Should I get a night bulb for the heat lamp as well?

Lighting should be on a 12 hour on/12 hour off schedule. Many use an automatic timer. No lights at night. Usually no need for a heat lamp at night. When should I turn the UVB and heat lamp off? Should I get a night bulb for the heat lamp as well?
If it's 12/12, what's the advantage to a smart timer over a "regular" timer?Invest in a smart timer you will be better off in the long run.

OK. Personally, I've not had that experience. I use a couple of $5 timers; they're a few minutes off, but consistent—no cumulative error."smart" as in has a clock. There are "dumb" 24 hour timers that just go on repeat, and start to go out of sync 30-60 seconds per day

Oh, I've had some bad ones (different reasons). The weird thing was I kept hanging on to them for years. (Take your pick which gene to blame that on. )I must have the worst mechanical Christmas light timers ever.
