Chameleon Light Hours

Invest in a smart timer you will be better off in the long run. And like said by @MissSkittles said 12 hours on 12 hours off just need to figure out what times work best for you. And no need for night heat unless your house is getting super cold ? and if you do need heat go with a ceramic bulb not a heat light ?

no heat at night. Would have 12 hours with all lights on and 12 hours with lights off. Timers are great for this. You can find some at petsmart, petco and I'm lowes will have some! I bought one that has two outlets on the side of it for around $9, and it's great. Especially if I come home later at night and I'm not home to turn things off.

"smart" as in has a clock. There are "dumb" 24 hour timers that just go on repeat, and start to go out of sync 30-60 seconds per day :)
OK. Personally, I've not had that experience. I use a couple of $5 timers; they're a few minutes off, but consistent—no cumulative error.

I must have the worst mechanical Christmas light timers ever.
Oh, I've had some bad ones (different reasons). The weird thing was I kept hanging on to them for years. (Take your pick which gene to blame that on. )

Finally, I listened to the Missus, chucked 'em & bought a couple new ones. (The new ones are quieter too. ☺)

I always set my lights to go on about 30 minutes after sunrise and 30 min before sunset. Cham room had windows so it gave them the dawn/dusk effect.
