Hey wonderful Chameleon experts, just wanted to know is it safe for my Yemen 3 month chameleon to eat calcium powder?? I put a dish of mealworms in and there was residual powder which the chameleon preferred to the worms? Is this normal? Einstein is his name btw, he also likes rocket and roaches and crickets. Approx 20 a day all hunted down like a little cat. The calcium is sepia powder without D3 and he has a UVD3 lamp if this helps. Does he look healthy or is he lacking calcium??

Chameleons will sometime eat dirt to get more vitamins and minerals, which he could be showing almost, but just in a dish. Mealworms are recommended not to be fed on a regular basis due to high chitin levels. What is your supplementing schedule?

Feeders should be lightly dusted with plain calcium at every feeding. Twice monthly calcium with d3. Twice monthly multi vitamin. Calcium is very important for growing babies bones.
Thankyou for response!! He doesn't like the cup feeding so I just dust a few insects at a time and let them free. Maybe the calcium falls off? I will get some more vitamins and d3 powder aswell thanks again!
