Chameleon near passing :( So extremely sad

My heart is completely broken. There have been no vets available and I believe Ziggy is near passing. His weakness is completely heart wrenching and I feel like I have failed him. Emergency vet visits are ridiculously expensive, but I think he is beyond the point of saving. I've tried to get him to drink, but he no longer takes calcium water and he hasn't eaten in days. I miss my vibrant little buddy and this has been soooo hard to watch him linger. I don't know how much longer this will last, but he can barely lift his head and is sleeping all day. While this sounds absolutely horrible, anyone with experience know how long they can linger near the end? On the phone the vet said that it can last awhile. We tried Pedialyte baths with no luck. If you look into his eyes you can see that he is just gone mentally, and his breathing seems to have been slowed. I picked him up this morning and he felt colder but he managed to move himself to a warmer side of the cage in the sun and I put a heater near his cage. I didn't know the end was going to be this extremely sad, and it's gotten to the point where each of my family members (even my dad) has teared up because he looks so helpless. I don't know if euthanasia is worth it if he might pass away soon. I'm glad that he had a nice life in a huge cage with plenty of fruit salads and sun bathing, but I hate to see him suffer any longer.

I’m probably going to catch hell for saying this but you know better than anyone else. If you truly believe euthanasia is the best option at this point, do it. You don’t need a vet to euthanize him.

As keepers it’s our responsibility to do what’s best for them while in our care. Unfortunately this is one of the parts no one thinks of when they first get a Cham. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard...

Sorry you and him are going through this, good luck...

Try to keep him in a basking spot if he doesn’t have the power to move after about a hour of direct 85 degrees basking take the light off of him for 15- 20 mins then put it back on him. He needs to bask for good blood flow if your giving him calcium water. I had a panther get really sick on me, I got to the point where I didn’t think he was going to live but I kept letting him bask and cool bask and cool then eventually i got him to eat after a while. I’m sorry if this is to late, I’ve seen some miracle tho.. good luck
