Chameleon not eating too much

I just recently got a baby veiled chameleon three days ago. He or she is only a few months old as they said when I got it. The first day I didn't see it eat anything at all except I saw it eat one worm. The second day I got it to eat a cricket. I don't see too many crickets left over by the end of each day,but I'm not sure if they died in a hiding spot or if they are actually being eaten. Bubba (my chameleon) drank water a couple of times and has used the bathroom. I'm always around and I don't really see Bubba go to eat. I'm just a little nervous.

He's probably just adapting to his new enclosure. My veiled did the same thing when I purchased him and now he eats like a monster. Right now you don't need to worry, but keep an eye on him. I purchased my chameleon from a vet and he said I should only be worried if the chameleon showed signs of starting to lose weight. Is that the case with Bubba? If not, he'll probably go back to normal eating habits by next week.

Thank you!

Well it has only been three days. Bubba looks the same I just got worried. I guess I should give it a couple of more days first. Thank you!

Give him more time. I have had mine for just over a month and he still doesn't eat in front of me. I can sit on the floor and watch him but he stays in his spot and doesn't move to get the food. I only knew that he was eating from seeing his poop. Now in the month he has grown and I still see poop so I figure he is getting food. When I let the food go in the cage and come back only twice have I noticed him with a cricket in his mouth. So for my records that I kept it looks like he is not eating as I can only document what I see. Never seen him drink yet.

Im having the same problem.

I got a baby Senegal Chameleon a few days ago and she isn't eating much. The first day she ate a lot and same with the second but after that I haven't seen her eat much. She's pooping and she's very active but she's also having a hard shed. She was a little underweight when I got her and the vet I took her to said just wait a little until she gets used to it. The humidity levels are good as well. What should I do?

Some baby veils can be notoriously skiddish about eating in front of people. Just make sure to feed at first light, giving them the opportunity to eat at their choosing. Make plenty of water available and keep checking for droppings. May take a day or two for him to eat or eat in front of you.
