10.0 uvb might be a bit much 5.0 is fine for chams.im not saying its a cause of slow growth but too much uvb can be bad news

all my chams have 10.0 with reflectors on top of the cage.. they are all doing great
regarding slow growth.. you ever had a fecal done?

Gonna agree with stalincat here.....and qualify it by saying that it's difficult to give a cham a uvb tube that will really harm them.
The sun is dangerous if you give them too much direct unfiltered sunlight. Fortunately we don't have access to any bulbs which can rival the awesome destructive power of the sun.......
Outside time just means reducing the D3 in their powder.

This is the best thread I have encountered so far. It's been a mystery to me of my panther's current weight. But after reading this post by post now I am at ease. Thanks also for the link reptilelove(jasmine), like always you rock!
Others have calmed me by saying their chams weigh only 9 grams for 2 months, other said his panther is only 50 gram at 6.5 mo old, others said cham grows at different rate.
I guess I need to be happy and satisfy that my guy is lean, I guess lean and healthy is better than big heavy unhealthy cham
He's 20 gram and I believe he's 4-5 mo old.

I had read 10.0 was too much but I stand corrected.that's the only thing about forums you hear so many opinions on things

They are individuals, each unique & special in their own way. He's just going to the beat of his own drum. I have to admit I was super surprised to read that an oz. a week growth seemed about right...lol! Funny how just a tweak of one word can change everything that was attempting to be articulated.

My concern with the 10.0 on a 10 gallon glass cage is that there might not be anywhere the chameleon can go to escape the UVB because the cage is so small. If the chameleon has a place to go to escape, then it should be alright.
My next suggestion would be to have a fecal done to determine if it has any parasites. If it is clean, then it could just be a slow grower.
