Chameleon poop

When Chameleons poop, it seems to have two parts. A big brown part thats looks like your typical poop, but then it also has a white piece attatched to it. What is the white thing?

it's his pee (or scientifically speaking "his urate")

Yeah Dan.............It is part of the wee wee. A bit of clear liquid will come out but the real equivalent to human wee wee is the white stuff. You want it to look chalk white :)
 
Put a water bowl in his viv.. He will more often than not use that to deficate in..
It will float around for a while..
He'll get used to that and will prevent defication when he's roaming your house..
Chameleon toilet smells bad and will stain clothing and other material..

it is called uric acid i believe..something i learned in biology in college...it helps them retain their moisture (the white stuff, yellow stuff) b/c in the wild they sometimes have to go without drinking or getting any water.

the brown stuff...well i guess its a lot like ours

our pee is called urea...f.y.i. we dont really need to conserve water so we just pee and poop

Personally, I think a waterbowl is fine within the enclosure..
Clean the water out regularly
I also have a simple aquarium air stone in the bowl
Remember also when cleaning the bowl out, use a recognised Herp disinfectant
 
whats in my chameleon's poop???

ive had my chameleon (karma) for a while now and im pretty used to looking at his poop just to make sure that he is ok.... except this time its not looking ok!!!

there is the normal yellow and brown bits BUT this time there is something pink in it.... i would guess its like guts/liver/intestinal... thing
i really cant place what it is but there has be no change to his diet for him to have a strange thing....

any heads up on what might be wrong???
 
Don't put a water bowl in the cage. If when you spray his cage and drops of water start dripping in the bowl he could drink out of it. And if there is poop in there and he drinks out of it, well you know what will happen.

gingerchuckie: Can you take a picture? I would get a fecal done fast. Make sure you get more than one done!

My cham did that to me to, when i first got her. GROSS! Yesterday my bearded dragon pooped on me and he did it again tonight. My crested gecko has pooped on me as well. :confused: I seem to be a toilet for my reptiles these days. :rolleyes:
 
Ginger, the poo doesn't look too good.
Boost his hydration for a while and you might want to consider having your vet's # handy.
