chameleon refusing to eat

She is showing receptive colors to mate, thus an indication that she will need to lay eggs soon whether or not she actually mated.

that is where i got some my info for chameleons, under the lighting section is the temp he said i should have, so i figured if the temp was supposed to be between 80-95 degrees, that 100 baskign area wasnt too bad, thank you all for helping me and giving me tips.

it only gets to 83 in the cool spot of the terrarium, and the 100F i put in was the highest temperature it has reached since i measured, it has been lower before, 95 or so. i will take your advice and get a new bulb, what brand/wattage would you recommend getting?

For an adult male that would still be on the warm side. Females generally require a lower basking temp. If they do receive the higher temps they will produce more eggs more often and there is a good chance it will shorten their life. Also it is important to regulate their food intake when they are not carrying eggs, about 6-8 feeders every other day. For lighting I use a 60w house hold light bulb for my female and her basking spot is at its highest is 85* and the temps at the bottom of her cage is room tempish (around 75-78)

For lighting, most people recommend a 60-75w light bulb and a repti-sun 5.0 tube style fluorescent bulb, not the swirly ones.

Also you said that the pet store dusts the cickets, do you know what they are using? I Dust my own crickets so i know what they are getting.

Here is my supplementation schedule.

Calcium with out D3 4-5 times a week
Calcium with d3 2x monthly (unless they are getting natural sunlight then i skip this)
and a multivitamin with beta carotene 2x monthly.

Yea shes not eating now cause shes all filled up with eggs.

I use all rept-cal products. One with out d3, one with d3 and herptvite which has beta carotene (there is another one, reptivite which as Preformed vitamin A which will work but i do not use preformed A [this is a whole different topic but either one will work])

i bought her mealworms too, should i dust these at all or give them any supplements?

Meal worms are not the most nutritious. You can feed them off but next time try super worms (Zophobas morio)

I love it how every female that ventures to the bottom, MUST be carrying eggs!

Its shedding, not eating is nothing unusual. There is substrate on the floor, substrate means increased humidity. Its a small glass walled cage, the only ventilation is the lid.

If the temp is too high, its not surprising the animal is retreating to the bottom, cooler/more humid.

The jug is not exactly perfect, rather narrow. A deep tub is probably better and should always be avail unless you can tell if shes gravid.

well the reason why i am taking her back to the pet store is because the vet said it would cost $376 just to run tests, and they didnt even know what was wrong with her yet. unfortunately i dont have that kind of money, so i must return her
