Chameleon shower

Most people shower by aiming the shower head on the wall, putting it on warm, and making sure the chameleon does not get hit directly, and gets the light mist. Or you can just use a mister from a distance that won't be too close. Why are you asking about showering? Does your chameleon have stuck shed, or is dehydrated?

I have seen some people write about showering and I thought I had to take him out and shower him by hand or something but that doesn't sound right, I thought by lightly misting him that it would be considered showering so I just asked to make sure, he is well hydrated and doesn't have stuck shed

Showering can really stress a chameleon out, so you have to do it right, and it is recommended to do so carefully. Before showering, post pictures and a detailed description of how you are going to do it, just so that people here can make sure you are doing it right, you wouldn't want anything to happen. (PS, for some reason, chameleons like to poop in the shower, so be prepared just in case, OK! ;))

Can you explain to me how to shower my chameleon step by step?

Here you go:
1) Aim faucet/nozzle (whatever you want to call it) towards the shower wall.
2) Turn on water to warm, but not too hot or cold.
3) Make sure that the water pressure is not too high, where the water is going down so hard it will hurt.
4) Place a branch or something in the shower.
5) Place your chameleon on the branch.
6) Don't disturb, but monitor closely to make sure the chameleon is not showing signs of distress form hot water, not liking the shower, etc.
Hopefully this helps!!!

Okay I get it, so I have a tree decor thing, I can take that out and place it in my bath tub and then turn on the shower to warm and have the water head hit the wall so the water is bouncing off the wall and lightly misting/showering my chameleon?

Please pretend you are going to give your cham a shower, and do everything you would, and take a picture of it, so that I can give you better advice regarding if it is correct or not.

That's the tee decor that I would place him on, and that's how far the shower head goes to aim towards the wall, so therefore I would place the log in the back of the tub so that the water can sprinkle on him

The water should be luke warm. This is from the water and humidity page.
" Place a large plant in the tub, aim the shower head against the wall, and run the water so that only a fine mist reaches the chameleon. The water should be room temperature (not hot!). They may drink for up to 30 minutes. Make sure to supervise your chameleon at all times while using this method."
If you have decent drainage for your cage it can be less stressful for your chameleon to use a hand held pump mister. The idea is to give them a good long light spraying so they clean their eyes and take a long drink. I give mine at least two of these a week.
If they get startled at first stop let them settle and start again. Once they are all wet they seem to settle into it, clean their eyes and drink.

I’m curious wouldn’t hand misting him be just as effective? For a Long time of course. Every time I take my panther out of the room he gets stressed so I try not to. I can only imagine putting him in the shower.
Even though I use a mistking I still give him one really long hand misting. Just to try to get him to drink but he is always like :cautious: what r u doing lady lol

I personally just do long hand mistings, 30 minutes or 10 minutes or however long just seems like it would waste a lot of water.
