I think there is a very good chance he will be OK. They can handle pretty cold, not for extended periods of time but for a night or two it is possible. It also depends what heat packs were used. If inside the box doesn't go below 40f there is a good shot. I mean I would not recommend it but survivable.

I'm a little surprised you didn't open the box right there at FedEx to check—we have, every time we've had a reptile shipped. FedEx doesn't mind, and the counter folk are usually excited/interested to see the little critters, too.

Maybe put a towel on the enclosure to make sure he's not dealing with too many souroundings, just make sure you don't burn it
