i have a cage just no furnishings except a few until the next day so my cham. is coming BEFORE the supplies because of a shipping miscalculation

As you have the cage, why not put him in it? Just do some quick makeshift vines and stuff. A few branches and some twine can do wonders. Once your furnishing arrives, it won't take you a whole day to put them together...he'll be fine in a box or even a bag for that time. Make sure you give him something to cling to in the box or bag (a branch or dowel or something like that).
