Chameleons eat predominantly pollinators in the wild

Yes, as you say,, larvae do not live in tree foliage. I don't know what species of beetles they were capturing. I didn't taste them. They were to be baked or something. Nothing was said about eating grubs, but I doubt it. Island of Mindinau.
I did research on Japanese beetles in Georgia.

How do you guys feel about feeding silkworm/hornworm moths as well? I've just recently been told (though not sure if true) that dubia's shouldn't be fed to adult chameleons often.... due to uric acid? Never heard of this counter argument yet so been looking into other feeders. Happy I came across this! :)

This is only true if your feeding high protein to the roaches like dog food. If your feeding them a good veggie and fruit diet then this shouldn’t be a problem

Also yes you can feed the moths. I feed my adult veileds hawk moths all the time they love them

That is only applicable to Dubia fed dog food. When you feed roaches excess animal protein (Dog food, Cat Food, Fish Food) they will turn the excess into Uric Acid and store it.

Solution is simple, dont feed the roaches animal protein.

Ohhhh got it, thank you! Yes, always been told that as well so I generally select out a few feeders every week and gutload them on veggies/fruits days prior to feeding. Plus I generally don't give them roach chow anymore than once a week in general. They are happy vegetarians for the most part. :p

My little panther cham is finally big enough to eat adult male dubias so I'm definitely looking to expand on more feeders. Wanting to try locusts too when he's a bit bigger.... even though they terrify me. @_@ In regards to the moths, is one moth per feeding pretty applicable for a young adult cham? My cham is now 9.5 months old or so, and I'm down to feeding him only one roach a day, and sometimes a 5-10 phoenix worms or like 3 supers. He's been getting a little chunky though so trying to adjust his feeding amounts down a bit. :p

What is "Roach Chow"

Removing them a few days in advance, doesn't help. Any Roach that has been fed dog food, really should never be fed. They store that Uric Acid for a very long time.

If the "roach chow" contains animal proteins, I would stop use of that entirely. There is a lot of commercial dry food, that has plant based protein sources that will not cause that issue.

The type of dog food I was using was "human grade" high quality food that I had leftover from my parents dogs. It was like, this freeze dried food that I used to actually just add water to to make this... baby food consistency, but then just started blending it in with dry with oats and some bearded dragon pellets I had. I figured it would be okay for now due to the good quality, but that's good to know that it still poses risk! I actually used it all up last week and so I will look into making or just getting a new chow entirely!

I'm assuming that any vegan dog/cat food would be okay to use? Just as long as it's plant based protein right?
