Chams addicted to food.

I hear all the time that a persons chameleon is "addicted" to some feeder and will not eat anything else other than that. I have never had this problem and i feed my chams crickets, hornworms, silkworms, pheonix worms, and superworms. I don't understand how a chameleon would only want one specific feeder, doesn't that go against its natural instict?

As long as you mix the feeders up and dont feed one feeder more than the other the chameleon wont get addicted to it. What you're doing is great, mixing the chameleons diet up:)

In the wild, chams don't get a lot of opportunities to eat, so therefore, they will eat anything presented to them.
In captivity, we tend to spoil(as compared to the wild) are chams with a variety of food. It is natural for them to have their favorites and only want their favorite bug.

I have run into this same issue and had to put the chams. on a fasting to break the addiction. Good luck!

really?! see i dont see it that way, i dont think chams get "addicted" i mean they might like one type more than the other but to only want to eat one type, i dont believe it, especially cuz it doesnt happen to me.

I get this problem regularly, I give them superworms as a treat then they totally ignore crickets for the next week. However, they will still eat silk worms, horn worms, and roaches.

haha exactly what happens to me! Roaches are the one feeder never turned down in my house.

one of my chams loves superworms, he would eat them alone if he could, but he also loves roaches, my pardalis used to only eat supers for most of his life, now he wont touch them.

If they are healthy they will eat any other bugs if their hungry. Adult chams can live healthy long lives with tops 10 bugs a WEEK with enough greens. (this coming from other experienced cham owners here) as over feeding will shorten their lives

Mista's feeder of choice are locusts.
He will have others now and again but doesn't eat them with the same gusto.
So long as you mix the gutload around i don't see a problem.
