Charlie's back!

So, after a year of being MIA, I had the fortunate luck to find my daughter's lizard, Charlie, hanging out in my neighbor's tree today. Once I got the ladder and climbed up, Charlie crawled right into my hands. Besides being underweight and a little dehydrated, he seems no worse for wear. We are sooo excited to have this little guy back!:):D

Wow! That's wonderful news! Oh my goodness! This is unbelievable! After a whole year....you must be very happy! :)

Thanks everyone. Yes, we are super excited, and very lucky, to have found him. A little update, Charlie is settling into his outdoor cage and seems to be doing better. His urate, still has some orange tinge to it but is predominately white. I have not yet seen him eat but there are fewer crickets in his feeder. Luckily, I am in the process of building a new terrarium for my other chameleon, Mowgli, out of an old display cabinet, pictures to follow when it is completed, that should be big enough to accommodate both lizards with the necessary divider. All and all, it was perfect timing for him to return.

Holy Crap! This is awesome!!! He looks pretty darn good! What are the lowest outdoor temps you guys had during his time on the loose? I think everyone freaks out about temps getting below 50 and it seems they can handle far below that. There was one member who had to unexpectedly leave his Veild outside for a few days and the temps dipped into the 40's. He was fine. So glad you got him back! Amazing!!!

That's awesome news. He looks great! I always tell everyone that has an escapee to continue looking because he's out there somewhere....unless a bird or other predator ate him.

Carol,
It was a fairly mild and very dry winter here in SoCal. That being said, occasionally, it did get down to the mid to high 30's.

Jannb,
I agree, if you knew how many times I had false ID a leaf in a tree or stick... but, I never stopped hoping.

Nice.

If Charlie could talk; oh, the adventures and things he must have seen and experienced in the last year!:D

amazing

It just goes to show you how rugged chameleons are and espesially veeilds .
There was a few occasions this winter when I forgot to turn the heat on in the cham room
and it was def in the 40s some nites. Didnt bother them at all. And when my female was 3 months old she had a closed eye and didnt eat at all for some time ! I thought she was a gonner and one day she turned it all around and now she is a healthy beast who just laid 40 eggs lol .!!!
well im very happy for u I can only imagine the feeling of getting a family member back like that because we love them so much . U gotta put a leash on him now !!!!l
