Cheap food for veiled

Hi, I'm just wondering where I could get some cheap food for my chameleon. Currently i'm buying small crickets from the local pet store but my chameleon is an eating machine and i'm paying way too much for them right now. For about 36 crickets it usually runs me about $5. Those usually last him about 2 days ish usually. Bought him as a juvenile so i'm assuming he's around 5 months old, i've had him for almost 2 weeks now and he just consumes crickets extremely fast. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative way of providing him food.
Thanks

You should find another pet store.. I get a box of 1,000 crickets for $25 at my store, but I know you can get them from places like Lazy H Bait for about $15 or so..any size.

Chameleon and cheap dont go together. Look online at some of the sponsers and consider buying little plastic cage to keep them and buy them in hundreds if not thousands. Also hornworms are great my cham loves those things, dubia roaches, super worms, silk worms...a bunch of options.

Your only way to go cheap if that's what you want to call it is to breed your own. crickets, super worms, and dubia roaches can all be raised at home. So I guess you either have to choose convenience/expensive or work/cheaper the choice is yours. Good luck:)

Your chameleon needs more than just crickets. He needs a large variety of well gut loaded feeders. I recommend you try a value pack from Linda at lindasgonebuggy. Her value packs are like $20 for 4 different feeders.

Thank you, I currently feed him a few wax worms as well. I'm going to start getting horned and super worms when I can. The only super worms I can find are way too big for him to eat at the moment. I also give him collared greens which surprisingly he enjoys a lot.

If you can feed silk worms and roaches, your chameleon will be very happy! Roaches are by far the easiest feeder to keep and breed on your own (high initial cost, but if kept properly you wont have to buy staple feeders again).

I was looking at Linda's Gone Buggie. Do panthers eat black soldier fly lava? I was considering ordering a value pack.

I think silkworms are the cheapest and best if you have or can buy a tree. Ten silkworms will be enohgh to start a lifetime supply. I've got about 500 silkworms ready to cocoon and lay eggs andall I paid was $12 for the 50 silkworms I bred to get the babies I'm raising now from.

Where did you find the original silk worms? I'm assuming online? If so could you provide me with the website please :)
