I am simply trying to keep some plants in my basement, nothing illegal!:p

Umbrella, Ficus, Rose bush, and blackberry.

Anyone have any simple tips? Brand of light?

I get high output T5 grow lights from my local hydroponics/ indoor gardening store. I think I pay $35 for a single bulb fixture which includes the bulb with the right spectrum for plants. I mainly use them for growing out plants and cuttings for my dart frog terrariums.

how many plants in how large a space?

a couple simple 6500K color temp CFLs will work find for a small space. GE and Philps brands are fine. Or a couple 6500K lamps in 48" fluorescent tubes T8 size for a slightly large space.

Also the higher the lumen number the brighter it will be.

LOLOLOL this marijuana talk must be moved to the high times forum haha. Thanks all for the helpful advice!

The bramble is going to be in a 2x2x4 screen cage, with 60-80 adult katydids. I am going to have a few of those cages. Blackberry and Rose bush.

The Dwark Umbrella trees and Ficus will just be out in the open.

I remember when I was growing tomato plants for my hawk moths, the light was supposed to be just a couple inches above the plant, is this good for other plants?

close is good, So long as its not so close that it will burn the upper leaves.
You could run a tube along the wall / side, and another one or two tubes above positioned a few inches higher than the highest leaves. Turning the plant pots every other day or so, so that they dont just lean to the one brighter side.

This is good advice and about the best you can hope for from florescent fixtures. If your so inclined you can get a solid 1 bulb system say in 400w for 100-200$ if you spend $25 / fixture and $10 ish a bulb you are rapidly looking at just as much for florescent stuff.

i currently have 7 total 48" T-12 daylight bulbs they do pretty good for slow steady growth. but im sure they really suck tons of power.

I say T-8 or T-5 to stay cheap and even then only 1 or two fixtures. Anything more and you might want to consider a more complex setup.

It really depends on what you want to spend and how much light you need to produce.

Nov it will be. Remember to vote :D

Oh darn I guess some of my friends got a head start!! Lol. Nah with a card(medical reason) you are limit to however many plants, 24 or whatvers.

We have another agenda around Oct-nov
This is for ppl in San francisco, they are thinking about banning sales of birds and other small animals. So stupid
