Cheap Steam Cleaners!

Anyone have experience with these models? I am considering buying a steamer to clean my cages and want one that is moderately priced and will work.

Here are a couple that I have found that I am considering purchasing. What kind do you all use?

I started with one similar to that. have since up-sized to one twice as large or larger. The little ones are fine for small jobs, but to be really thorough you'll want a bigger one, espcially if you are sanitizing multiple cages.
These things are great for all sorts of cleaning - way better than all the chemicals most people use so often. I use my steam cleaner in the kitchen, bathroom, on the hardwood floors, the bbq, the cham cages, the deck chairs....and I dont remember where my iron is cuz i steam the wrinkles out twice as fast.
Hardly ever need anything more than the steam, plus sometimes white vinegar, to clean house. Good for the earth = good for me.

It says the core is 240 and the core of the McCulloch Dodolah posted is 250....do you think it is comparable?

lol. Can i borrow yours to clean my cham cage when you decided to buy the 2nd one
That one is the best! The company boasts that the machine release the steam as hot as 285 F.
OUCH! no coccidia or any parasite eggs will survive with a full power blast of that machine for a couple of minutes.

My first one was called a steam buggy. It was okay, but I upgraded - My current one is made by SteamMax. Im happy with it.

I have one that's similar to the Amazon one, but purchased at Home Depot for $40 in a blue molded case. It works pretty darned well for the grout in the bathroom and ought to do quite a number on any nasties in a cage.

Hey guys, I just saw this thread and I have been recently researching steam cleaners as well. From what I have found is pretty much all the cheaper ($50 to about $200) don't get hot enough to kill bacteria, which is what you want. The one I did see on here was the White Wing one. Basically steam must be over 165F when it reaches most bacteria to kill it and other, if a steam cleaner only gets to 212F (point at which water boils) then the probability of it reaching your bacteria at a hot enough temp is very unlikely. Many people say that a steam cleaner must reach 250F in order for the steam to reach where you want at the right temp.

Does the McCulloch MC 1275 get to a hot enough temperature to be useful?

I just found a website that lists the temp for the McCulloch. It says it gets to 250, hot enough to kill things.

Not all steam cleaners are created equally. The cheap ones suck. Get a good one, or dont bother.
