Chewing Fiscus OK?

Hello there i have a slight question i have 3 types of plants in my vivi, a pothos, a hibiscus and a fiscus.

However my veil seems to be only interested in eating the fiscus..... ive read it might not be very good for cham, is it true??

Heres a pic of him getting some outdoor action today, he is shedding his skin and looks good to me so far.

It's not true, veiled do eat veg, leaf etc and ficus are safe for them to eat

I agree, it's normal for them to eat some of the leafs. BUT if he eats them to often he might not get the proper nutritional value he needs.

too bad he doesnt eat the hibiscus, which is actually fairly nutritious!
Small amounts of fiscus are no problem at all. If he or she is eating large amounts of fiscus, it may be a problem. The white sap can be an irritant.

try offering leafy greens and small amounts of fruit, and consider if your gutloading is adequate.

I only gutload my cricket with potato and carrots. I was hoping he will eat the hibiscus but he doesnt seems to be interested in it just the ficus.

I dont think he eats it a lot, he just chew a bite a day or so and make the tree ugly lol..... i tried roaches (the ones without wings and look oval) i bought from the pet shop but it seems a bit too big for him and hes quite scare of them...

Alot of my veiled enjoy their greens. I will often give them a slice of kiwii, kale or other fruits and veggies.
What I do is take a decent slice and either hand feed it off or hand it in their cage with a clothes pin and let them come to it at their own pace.
I feel they are searching for a source of hydration as they rarely drink from the misters or drippers.

A chameleon is usually not a total idiot....so if it's on the safe plant list and he's well hydrated then it's ok to assume that he is doing it just because he wants a bit of extra roughage with his crickets.....
If he was desperate for water he would probably have opted for his Pothos......
So what I'm saying is.....yeah, it's all good

If he is chewing your plants, he is telling you what he needs in his diet.
Green leafy veggies! kale, mustard greens, romain, chard, are all loaded with vitamins and minerals your cham needs.
Smeagie loves all greens (avoid spinach as it is high in oxalic acid), and blueberries. I have not had any success with feeding him any other fruits.

I actually discovered this w/o reading it.
I have fake silk plants in his cage and one day I saw him chewing on one.
I looked at the fake leafe he was munching, and could see he had been doing it for some time.

On a complete whim, I handed him a kale leaf and he nearly attacked it!!

I held it while he was frantic ripping off mouthfuls !!

I was like;... oh!!
