Chewy finally arrived- behavior question

Our male veiled arrived today. It was a harrowing trip for him from CA to VT which left him in transit for almost 42 hours. That being said he was alive upon opening and after his initial quiet time in his new enclosure he did explore. After being allowed to acclimate for close to 5 hours we fed him. He ate 11 crickets which I thought was encouraging. My question is when he is under the basking and uvb fixture he almost lays flat on the branch. Eyes open looking around. Is this normal basking behavior? Do chams stand on branches to bask or do they sort of lounge and appear to lay down while holding on. He does not appear to be unsteady at all. Just a nervous new cham mom. After going through t he delay with delivery, I'm hoping that it hasn't affected him. Any advice or encouragement is very welcome.

My cham will some times turn so his side is more toward the light and then he will kind of puff up to absorb more heat.

Congrats on the new member of your family! Completely normal. My veiled, Lucky, does this often. He's just providing more surface area on his body to absorb the heat. You mentioned that you ordered him from a breeder here in CA. May I ask which one?

Lllreptile. .. I was a bit apprehensive but so far so good. Shipping was rough but he finally arrived all wide eyed. Thank s for your response. Such a nervous wreck. He's awake and warming himself as I write.

my veiled puffs up and leans to the point where he looks like a tilted hammock when he basks sometimes. ill look at him and hell just stare at me while he does it, its funny.

Mine did that also when I first got him 3 weeks ago. I immediately contacted the seller and he informed me that was completely normal . And threw in an LOL . I was nervous nelly and still am sometimes. Congrats on your arrival. Love the name.

Completely normal. As others have said, he's just getting more of his body exposed to the warmth of the light. You can look forward to all kinds of weird and adorable things you'll see him doing.
