A few (well allot) of Pics of Vega, Lula, Luie, Camille and my dog Red. Vega and Lula are my daughter's two oldest chams that I'm keeping while she's in the Bahamas.

First we have Mr. Vega. He's a very old man. He was WC when she got him and was already full grown and in Feb. she will have had him 5 years so he's got to be 6 +.

I never really knew panthers could look old, but Vega does look old. It is something about his eyes, both panther have the old look but it is very apparent with Vega. Camille & Luie are beautiful as always.

Yes, almost like a bruising around the eyes. They just look tired.

Laurie, Vega is so old he can not even hold on to the branches anymore.....hardly any grip. Lizbeth took him to Dr. Alfonso right before she brought him to me and he said it's just old age. I had not seen him in awhile and when Lizbeth dropped him off last Sat. I just cried when I saw him. He is very special! She had him way before we got our chams and every summer he's come home from college with her and he's been on family vacations and everything. He was free range up until lately when he could no longer grip the trees. Michael (my husband) put him a bunch of huge branches all over the top of his cage (he's now had to go to a cage except at night when he sleep on a pillow in a little box). My husband's building him a shorter cage today incase he falls he want have so far to go down.

Thanks everyone fo all the compliments. A picture of Vega from a couple years ago is "Mr. November" in the Chameleon Forums calendar. He was one handsome boy!

A couple more pictures of Vega and the large branches in his cage and him getting ready to go to sleep in his box. I also take him outside in this box for some sunshine. Any suggestions for caring for an old chameleon would be greatly appreciated.

Nice pix of all of them (Camille is the best fit for the Santa hat). I would assume by their looks that Vega and Lula are still eating fine? - Thaxter has kind of given up on shooting any distance within the past month or so; I hold each bug individually about an inch and a half from him and he extends his tongue and very gently takes it. On the one hand it's sad to see him get older (especially since he's still at least a year and a half younger than Vega); on the other, it's kind of pleasant to have the interaction.

Vega & Lula still eat but you have to hand feed and with Vega sometimes he can't get it in his mouth so while he's got his mouth open trying I just go ahead and put the bug between his lips so he can eat. Lula is a little better. I can put crickets in a cup and lead it over and as one will crawl up the edge she's get it but no shooting with either of them.

Also I have noticed that Vega holds his legs allot. I see him hold his front legs with the back and also his back with the front. I believe he thinks he has a branch and doesn't realize that he's holding onto his own leg. I have to watch him close. He'll fall over to the side of the branch and hangs from the side or even underneath and if I weren't here to help him back up he'd fall. I don't think he'd be able to hold on very long like that. My husband is out in the garage right now building him a 16x16x20 tall and he going to just about cover the entire top (about 6 inches down) with big branches.
