Claudia Is Full of Eggs

There have been a few cases of veileds resorting the eggs. Rather surprising IMHO...even though I've seen it once myself.

Yeah, I saw you say that it's not common for veileds to do it, but I've either seriously overlooked something in her enclosure, or that's exactly what's happening lol. The vet was actually surprised at how healthy and wonderful she looked. She said she was expecting a sick little girl to come in and expecting to have to make a decision about surgery to extract the eggs, but she's perfectly healthy and the eggs are disappearing somehow. It's bizarre.
 
You just keep learning when it comes to these guys. I have been raising veiled for over 20 years, and never seen this or herd of it until now.
 
I was asked by a vet to help a person with a veiled through the egglaying process because the female was thought to be eggbound but nobody wanted to do the surgery to remove them We tried everything we could and expected her to go down hill and die...but she started to slim down and when the vet later told me she resorbed the eggs. We were all surprised.

Sounds like exactly what Claudia is going through right now. She's dropped quite a few grams in just a week and looking slimmer by the day. Of course I'd pick a girl that leaves me worried for months lol.
 
Well, I am reviving this old thread here. I am happy to report that at this very moment, Claudia is hard at work digging in her lay box. She has spent the last few days digging test holes, but I'm pretty sure she's settled on one now. I am leaving her to it and checking in on her with the camera I have on her enclosure. Looks like it'll really happen this go-'round. Keep your fingers crossed for her!

She has emerged! Filling in her hole now. I'm on standby with crickets, water, and calcium.
 
She's done! She spent all morning and afternoon filling in the hole she dug and now she's back up top warming up and relaxing. She's had about 10 crickets so far and I just gave her enclosure a thorough misting. She's done very well, I am proud of my girl :)
 
I haven't gotten in there to look yet. I wanted to give her a little bit of time to relax and I didn't want to stress her out by digging in here just yet. I'll probably get in there tomorrow. That said she is super thin! So I know she got them out haha.
 
Alright, I couldn't take the anticipation any longer. She's asleep now, so I went in there and got the eggs. She laid 49 of them. I can't imagine how exhausted she must be.

Finally! I was thinking about Claudia the other day and so glad to hear she is doing well. Those eggs do look like they could be fertile.
 
She wasn't mated, no. So sadly they definitely are infertile. She's my only cham, so there wasn't any secret rendezvous that I didn't know about either lol.
 
Hi, all!

Long time since I've been here. But I'm back with a question. My lady has eggs again *heavy sigh* -- but things have been much quicker this time. I took a peek in there just a bit ago and she was perched on her favorite twig and had created a nice hole in her sand. Great! Well, the problem is that I'm not sure if she laid yet or not. Last time she spent hours filling the hole back up before she went back up to the top of her cage. Do some chams not fill in their holes they've dug?

It's hard to tell even by looking at her, because she has far less eggs this time around it seems. She had a little pooch but nothing like last time. I tried to look and see if I notice the pooch still but it was so hard to tell.

What do you guys think?
